It’s never too late to start taking control of your health, wellbeing, and productivity. Here are 10 things you can do each day to live a healthier life.

If you’re reading this, we can safely assume that you want to be the healthiest, happiest, and most productive version of yourself. Who doesn’t? However, many people simply talk about it but don’t actually go out to do anything about it. It’s easy to get stuck in the boring elements of your 9-5, and before you know it you’re in your 40s with health issues and no closer to your goals. It’s never too late to start taking control of your health, wellbeing, and productivity, so read on for 10 things you can do each day:

1. Drink Water All Day

How much water do you drink currently? You should aim for a minimum of 2 liters each day, carrying a big bottle with you so you can drink before you get thirsty. Waiting until you’re thirsty often means that your body is already hydrated, so don’t let it get that far! Even a little dehydration can cause lower levels of strength and concentration, so keep yourself topped up.

2. Eat Balanced Meals

Make sure you’re eating balanced meals each day to fuel the life you want to live. The food we eat can either make us feel energetic and productive, or sluggish and lethargic. You can’t be expected to eat a ‘perfect’ diet (what is perfect anyway?), but you should try to ensure you’re eating meals with all of the foods and nutrients you need. You should feel satiated for a good few hours, too, and not feel the need to snack all the time. Snacking isn’t bad, but if you feel the need to do it several times a day then you are likely not eating enough at mealtimes. 

3. Take Your Vitamins 

Taking your vitamins can ensure you’re getting what you need – for example, most people can benefit from taking a Vitamin D supplement, especially during wintertime. If you suffer from acid reflux, then you might also want to look into omeprazole tablets. Don’t fall for snake oil, but make sure you’re getting what you need. 

4. Use Caffeine Mindfully 

Using caffeine mindfully will ensure you have energy when you need it without laying awake all night. This means having one caffeine drink in the late morning or afternoon, and perhaps one a couple of hours later. You shouldn’t drink one later than 4pm, as you could end up disrupting your sleep pattern.

5. Get Dressed In Clothes You Like 

Dressing in clothes you like can help you to feel more productive all day long. You’d be surprised at the impact that a nice outfit can have on your mindset and output. Don’t dress in your sweats or you won’t get anything done! 

6.Meditate 

You can meditate while doing just about anything. You don’t need to just sit there with your eyes shut desperate to turn your thoughts off! You can meditate while you clean, shower, walk, exercise – the list is endless. 

7. Interact With Another Person

No human is an island. Make sure you interact with at least one other person throughout the day to avoid feeling isolated and alone. Can you facetime a friend? 

8. Read A Useful Book 

Try taking 10 minutes in the morning to read a few pages of a useful book. You could even try listening to an audiobook if you have little time. This way, you can read on the commute to work!

9. Go To Bed and Get Up At The Same Time

Going to bed and getting up at the same time every day will help to get your body in a great routine. You’ll end up feeling sleepy at the same time every night, and waking up around the same time every morning. If you’re currently in the routine of sleeping in on the weekends, you’re probably not getting enough sleep in the week. Rectify that by getting into a good routine and it’ll make the biggest difference. 

10. Get Your Heart Rate Up

Spend some time every day getting your heart rate up. This will vary from person to person, but it’s usually a good idea to aim for above 120 beats per minute. Get a bit of a sweat on and it’s a good indication that you’re doing well. You don’t need to have super sweaty exercise sessions every day, but trying to get a couple of sweaty sessions in each week can help you to feel healthier in mind and body and be more productive to boot. This is why most people like to get their exercise done in the morning!
